Visconti honors Antoni Gaudi with a beautiful extravagant writing instrument that is inspired on one of Gaudi’s masterpieces, Casa Batlló. It is a renowned building located in the center of Barcelona at civic number 43 of “Passeig de Gràcia” . A refit of a previously built house, in 1904 it was redesigned by Gaudí and it was finished in 1906. The ground floor, has unusual tracery, irregular oval windows and flowing sculpted stone work. There are few straight lines, and much of the façade is decorated with a colorful mosaic made of broken ceramic tiles (trencadís). The roof is arched and it was likened to the back of a dragon . A common theory about the building is that the rounded feature to the left of centre, terminating at the top in a turret and a cross, represents the lance of Saint George (patron saint of Catalonia, Gaudí’s home), which has been plunged into the back of the dragon.
Gaudi has been described from Le Corbusier as the “Shaper of stones and iron”. Gaudì had a vision about how to develop his masterpieces which was very close to Visconti’s philosophy. Visconti is considered to be a master craftsmanship in giving a shape to precious materials and in transforming them in masterpieces. This pen created from Visconti artisans is the perfect interpretation of the philosophy which pervades Casa Batlló. Indeed the owners of Casa Batlló, very enthusiast about the pen deisgn, have given to Visconti the right to present this masterpiece to the world, as ambassador of the essence of Antoni Gaudì.
Visconti has used the most sophisticated techniques: from micro-fusion pieces reworked by hand piece by piece, to glossy enameling and iridescent coating to reproduce the tiles on the roof of the building. The careful research of materials, carved keeping the curves and lines of the original building of Casa Batlló, are synonyms of Visconti craftsmanship skills. The body and the cap are curved on three layers; each one is molded in different materials (acrylic , silver, enamel ), and representing the facade of Casa Batlló. On top of the cap as well as on the blind cap the shape is respecting the particular design of the roof ( built from small colorful tiles). The roof is arched and was likened to the back of a dragon or dinosaur. The clip ( rounded to the left of centre and terminating at the top in a turret and cross) represents the lance of Saint George plunged into the back of the dragon. The pen is provided with the famous double reservoir power filler patented from Visconti as well as with the iconic 23kt Palladium nib. The pen has been developed with the support of the owners of Casa Batlló in Barcelona, which has celebrated the 110 anniversary since the termination of works in 1906. The Visconti Casa Batlló Silver is limited to just 188 pieces.
The Beatles are regarded as one of the most famous rock bands of all time. With members John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, they became widely regarded as the foremost and most influential act of the rock era. In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as ‘Beatlemania’. As the group’s music grew in sophistication, led by primary songwriters Lennon and McCartney, they came to be perceived as an embodiment of the ideas shared by the counterculture of the 1960s. The cone is inspired by the button of the mixing table at the famous Abbey Road studios, while the cap top is inspired by the studio’s microphone. The clip symbolises the iconic moustache of the Beatles on their portrait. The colourful stripes on the lacquered cap and barrel pay tribute to the costumes they wore on the album covers of ‘Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and ‘Love Me Do’.The collection includes the piston fountain Pen Hand-crafted Au 585 / 14 K gold nib with special engraving, ruthenium-coated, the roller ball with screwing cap and the twist ballpoint.
There are available refills of a special colour for each writing system:the colour, psychedelic purple, inspired by a rock-music style, was pioneered by the Beatles.
The Movember Foundation was founded in 2003 and tackles some of the biggest health issues facing men, including prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Its mission is to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives and to stop them dying too young. Every November, it encourages men to grow moustaches to raise money in support of the 1,200 health projects it runs around the world. The event enjoys worldwide backing and is supported by numerous celebrities in sport, comedy and fashion.Celebrating this new partnership, Oris introduces a special “Movember” edition of its now famous Divers Sixty-Five, a heritage piece inspired by an Oris diver’s watch first introduced in 1965. This watch started its life back in 2015, in 40mm edition, later followed by several variations and case updates: Deauville blue, 42mm bronze “Carl Brashear” Limited Edition, 42mm standard version, Green dials and finally a silver version. The Divers Sixty-Five now is a proper member of the collection. This sought-after watch now becomes the basis for Oris to create the “Movember” edition, with several interesting visual updates. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Movember Edition is based on the 40mm version of the “65” with a stainless case, its usual oversized crown and the 60-minute diving bezel with aluminium insert. Yet, several changes for this edition are to be noted. Firstly, the dial has a different layout, inspired by the one found on the 42mm version of this watch – applied dots and batons, instead of a painted dial with a quite retro look. On the other hand, the date remains placed at 6 and not at 3, as on the 42mm edition. Both the indexes and inscriptions on this Divers Sixty-Five Movember are pink-gold plated, tying the watch in with Movember’s colour palette, and simultaneously creating a unique look within the Divers Sixty-Five collection – with an end result that feels very 1960s, a sort of gilt dial if you want (vintage collectors know…) The hands are also done in the same gold colour. This Oris Divers Sixty-Five Movember Edition has more to show as well, such as a vintage-inspired leather strap with the Movember logo heat-stamped. An additional tricolour Bordeaux red, beige and dark brown NATO strap that features the Movember logo on the metal loop. This special edition is delivered in a heritage box, which also comprises a strap-changing tool.On the other side, a 1960s Oris logo is engraved on the steel caseback and is framed by the words ‘Oris Movember Edition’ and the Movember Moustache logo. Inside the case is an automatic movement, based on a Sellita SW 200-1, displaying time via 3 hands and the date.During the month of Movember, Oris will host a series of fundraising events across European cities, including shave-downs, poetry slams, Movember walks and an auction of an Oris Movember Edition. Details will follow via Oris’s social media channels and via the hashtags #ORISMOVEMBER and #ORISCHANGEFORTHEBETTER. Oris will make a donation to the foundation based on sales of the watch.
The Oris Divers Sixty-Five Movember Edition is a special but not limited edition, which will be priced at EUR 1,950 / CHF 2,100. And if you don’t really like the moustache logo on the strap, just change it and you’ll end up with what certainly is the coolest version of the Divers Sixty-Five, with the smaller case and a great vintage design. And you’ll help a good cause too… More details on www.oris.ch and movember.com.

This new collection of fountain pens, created in partnership with Delta, stems from one of my dearest wishes: bring together pen lovers and the most noble material in the history of writing instruments; the celluloid. Who among the pen enthusiasts has never dreamed of owning one? Today the difficulties of acquiring, storing and processing Celluloid makes it all the more expensive and exclusive. To achieve this fantasy of mine I turned to the only company with passion, patience and ability to translate these wishes into reality: the master crafsmen of Delta. With all the vast expertise and knowledge these aritisans gave birth to the first Corsani project: Fantasia Vintage! It is a collection of fountain pens sober, elegant and very limited. The beautiful selected colors, emphasized by the warm iridiscent tones that only the organic nature of celluloid can offer, create an emotion that evokes a past never forgotten. For all those seeking exclusivity, for those who take comfort and pleasure writing rather than testing or just only for those who love the contact with an object made by hand according to the dictates of the best Italian crafsmanship tradition !
All the writing instruments of the Fantasia Vintage collection are turned by hand from solid bars of special celluloid in six different shades enhanced by white rhodium plated or 18kt gold trimmings. Fantasia Vintage is offered exclusively as a fountain pen with steel nib and features Delta’s unique filling system, the “converter plus” that allows to fill the pen from the bottom simulating a piston. For those who would like to have a fusion nib the price will be € 395,00 and with a 14kt solid gold € 495,00. The central ring offers engraved representation of the charming and historic pattern, Greek Roman, obtained by the ancient goldsmith “lost wax” technique. Limited and numbered edition of 25 pieces per color : brown ( the only one with champagne gold trimmings), red/blue, turquoise, dark green, light green and bordeaux.
